Dear: Mr. Terry

It is a pleasure to inform you of your fifth consecutive Pretreatment Award for Wastewater Discharge Permit No. 2190A. The City of Albuquerque's Industrial Pretreatment Program has been in existence for 19 years. Many businesses have operated under wastewater discharge permits since the beginning of the program and have done an outstanding job of meeting their permit requirements with little formal recognition of this accomplishment. We sincerely appreciate the efforts of all at Prudential Overall Supply that have made the extra effort to do such an outstanding job, and we feel that you and your employees deserve formal recognition.

For the tenth year, the City of Albuquerque Industrial Pretreatment Program is presenting an annual award to each permit holder that has demonstrated an exceptional level of compliance with the requirements of their discharge permit. Two types of annual awards are being presented for the 2002-2003 Pretreatment Year and are based upon the following criteria.

Gold Pretreatment Awards are being given to permit holders for: (1) Operation of an active pretreatment system, 100% compliance with the reporting requirements of their permit, and 100% compliance with their permit discharge limits; or (2) Operation of a zero discharge system and 100% compliance with the reporting requirements of their permit; or (3) Exceptional source reduction and pollution prevention in lieu of active pretreatment, 100% compliance with the reporting requirements of their permit, and 100% compliance with their permit discharge limits.

Silver Pretreatment Awards are being given to permit holders for: (1) Operation of an active \" pretreatment system, 100% compliance with the reporting requirements of their permit, and 90% compliance with their permit discharge limits; or (2) Exceptional source reduction and pollution prevention in lieu of active pretreatment, 100% compliance with the reporting requirements of their permit, and 90% compliance with their permit discharge limits.

As in the past, some permit holders have clearly gone above and beyond the requirements of their permits, reaching out to accomplish the true spirit and intent of pollution prevention. To recognize this effort, awards of excellence will be given to permit holders that have not only demonstrated excellent compliance with every aspect of their permit but also have made outstanding efforts in pollution prevention through source reduction, waste minimization or effective treatment. The recipients of the City of Albuquerque's Award of Excellence for Industrial Pretreatment and Pollution Prevention have been chosen from those receiving the Gold and Silver Pretreatment Awards. A separate announcement will be made for the Excellence Awards, along with a listing of all of the Gold and Silver Award Winners in an upcoming issue of the Albuquerque Journal Business Outlook.

Sincerely,
