Choosing Scrubs to Flatter Any Body Type

For a fairly simple work uniform, scrubs aren’t always easy to get right. In fact, depending on your body shape and size, finding the perfect scrubs can be downright maddening. Luckily, there are some simple things you can do to ensure that your medical scrub work clothing is not only functional, but flattering as well.

Look for Shaping

You might be tempted to look for loose, baggy, or square cut scrubs, thinking that this will hide any trouble areas you’d rather not show off. This is a big no–no, as it can make you look bigger or boxier than you are. Bypass the shapeless uniform in favor of something with a hint of shaping.

Shoulders and Arms

The key to finding the perfect fit in a scrub top is to make sure that the neck, shoulder and arm area is proportionate and comfortable to your body style. If you find that your scrub tops roll backwards, or you’re constantly tugging at it all day, you probably need to go up a size. Don’t be afraid to try different sizes and brands as you look for a scrub top whose seams follow the natural curves of your body.

Measure and Add

When it comes to finding the right sized scrub or work uniform pants, it’s important to measure your inseam so you know the right length you need. However, what many people don’t realize is that you also need to add in 3 to 6 inches of ease. That means that whatever length you measure your legs, you should add between three and six inches to ensure that your pants hang comfortably without being baggy.
