KEEPING YOU INFORMED – COVID-19 – June 12, 2020

Prudential,

In my previous correspondence about COVID-19, I provided an update on the Company and a list of steps Prudential has taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and help keep our employees safe. This time I’m modifying my message and personally asking YOU to please comply with all of the guidelines health agencies are directing people to take in order to reduce the spread of this deadly virus.

America is opening up. The freeways now have traffic! Most restaurants now allow dine in. We are inching back to normal. One of the consequences of this has been an increase in COVID-19 cases across several states that we operate in including Arizona, California, North Carolina, and Texas. We are all now part of an unprecedented experiment – how to stop the spread of the virus while trying to live a normal life?

More and more scientific research is showing the virus’s main mechanism for spreading is through “respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks” https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html. Please pay extra attention to the last part: “or talks”. As fundamental as talking is to everyone’s daily life, science now points to this simple action as being a primary method of spreading COVID-19.

As such, I am asking YOU to continue to do YOUR part in preventing the spread of COVID-19:

  1. If you feel sick, please stay home
  2. When possible, keep your distance – 6 feet or more
  3. Wear a face covering whenever interacting with another person closer than 6 feet
  4. No large group meetings – use the phone or video conference
  5. Wash your hands frequently
  6. Clean and disinfect your surroundings

Taking the steps above will help to keep you, your coworkers, and your family safe.

The next 12-18 months will be difficult for all of us as we continue to adjust to the realities of COVID-19 and these unprecedented times. If you have any suggestions on how I can make Prudential safer, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly via e-mail or at Corporate, extension 226.

All the best,

John Clark
CEO
